He holds a Ph.D. in Agro-Biological Sciences from the University of Newcastle, United Kingdom, with a specialization in genetics and pathogenesis. Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Riaz has collaborated with leading international organizations across Pakistan and abroad. His contributions to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) were instrumental in shaping food safety compliance protocols, regulatory frameworks, and global import-export standards. He has represented regulatory bodies in high-level negotiations and technical forums with premier global institutions, including the U.S. FDA, USDA, Health Canada, and the European Commission. His strategic command of global regulatory ecosystems has advanced international collaboration and policy alignment at the highest levels.
Dr. Riaz is a recognized pioneer in the development and commercialization of industrial hemp in Pakistan, with particular emphasis on its transformative potential within the textile sector. Responding to the global shift toward sustainable raw materials, he has dedicated recent efforts to theresearch, development, and market entry of hemp as an eco-responsible and high-value agricultural commodity.
As Co-Founder of Khushi Hempstead (Pvt.) Ltd., Dr. Riaz leads the organization’s mission to advance industrial hemp cultivation, processing, and innovation in Pakistan. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and has served as Chief Executive Officer of Metal Engineering Works (Private) Limited for the past 15 years.
